Fly fishin' for a Clean Coosa!
Join us October 6-8 in Wetumpka, AL to fish on the Coosa, camp, see live demonstrations, talk to vendors, and listen to live music... all for the Coosa! Tickets are build-your-own-weekend style!
Coming October 6th-8th, the 2023 Southern One Fly is a weekend-long fly fishing event with a one day tournament. This tournament is unique by limiting participants to fish on the lower Coosa River and its tributaries while using only one fly pattern (one pattern in one color in one size, but multiple flies allowed), which is slightly challenging yet still welcoming to anglers of all skill levels. Participants will be targeting two famous Alabama species, Redeye & Spotted Bass, making this event even more special!
Not into fly fishing? Still come hang out with us for a fun weekend of live music, vendors and demonstrations, and camping along the Coosa River.
Tickets are build-your-own-weekend style!
THE RUNDOWN:
- FRIDAY: Participants will have the chance to eat locally & explore Wetumpka while camping alongside the Coosa River at the Coosa Outdoor Center! Tournament participants can go ahead and check in starting at 4pm at the Coosa Outdoor Center. Captains meeting (mandatory) is at 8pm. If you cannot make it, let us know and we will accommodate.
- SATURDAY (AM): Early morning tournament check in, and tournament begins at 7am. Those not participating in the tournament can check out Wetumpka, paddle Moccasin Gap, or hang around camp with the Coosa Riverkeeper crew.
- SATURDAY (PM): Local vendors will showcase artwork, products, and wares with interactive demonstrations & live music. The local community is invited to join Saturday's vending, live music, and demonstrations to learn about fishing, conservation, and the Coosa River. Tickets can be purchased to enjoy a low-country boil together!
- SUNDAY: Reflect on memories made, ensure we leave no trace, and share breakfast together at the new Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts overlooking the Coosa River!
